The Science of Reading is a body of research that investigates and explains how children learn to read and write and identifies the best practices for reading and writing instruction. Students who demonstrate understanding of phonemic awareness, phonics skills, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing are most likely to become successful readers and writers.
What it is:
Scientific research
A summary of how children learn to read
A guide for teaching practices
What it is not:
Another "adopted' curriculum
A singular approach to teaching
A phonics only approach
